After reading my friend, Debbie's blog (PaxiePanicker on my sidebar) this afternoon where she shared a treasured keepsake; I was reminded and went out in the garage, climbed over bicycles, boxes and other junk stuff the girls have left. I grabbed this to take a photo:
When I was a little girl, my grandmother showed
me this; it was hung by the back door where the
pump was. She explained that "the children's Papa"
had made it in l893 shortly after their marriage.
I never knew him as he passed away when my mom
was just five; she was the youngest of eight.
When I learned in l973 after my grandmother
passed, that the house was being taken down,
I rushed over to W. Fla. and asked my uncle
if I could have it. It may not be beautiful, but
it is to me; made by the children's Papa.
Just one of my few treasures from the Big House.
