One of my most memorable Thanksgiving days:
(I've written about this before)
We were kids, and after having eaten one of Mama's wonderful, tradtional, Thanksgiving
feasts, we loaded up in the car and went for a
ride in the country. We saw an elderly lady
waving her arms, and Dad immediately stopped
to help. Her husband had fallen, and she couldn't
get him off the floor. No phone, no neighbors.
Dad went in, took charge and helped the poor
little old man to the sofa. When he and Mom
got back in the car, Mom remarked she hadn't
seen the remnants of food on the table. We then
just turned around, and went home. After loading
up what was left of our meal, and adding many
groceries, she and Dad went back to their house.
Every Thanksgiving for several years, and at times
in between, food was taken to their house. This was perhaps one of my first lessons in that it truly is greater to give than to receive.
(When I saw this picture, I was also reminded of Hunter when
she was three, at dinner she made the sign of the cross and said
"Father, Son and holy Sprit"
:)
I wish you each and every one a Blessed Thanksgiving!
